I received so much positive feedback over the Spring flowers post, I thought I would write one on the beautiful Autumn flowers. The trees may be turning on the route to winter mode, but there are still some bright splashes of colour amongst the golden-tinged leaves.
Large individual striking blooms...
...to smaller hurts of colour, such as this Tibouchina*,
There are those which are not only very pretty, but have a magnificent scent, such as the sweet, heady fragranced Frangipani...
...as well as white and yellow, the thick, waxy petals of the Frangipani come in this beautiful pink tinge too
There are pale flowers, such as this Yucca*:..
...and super bright flowers like this Tibouchina*
Waxy spaghetti-type flowers of the Banksia*...
and pretty, delicate blooms...
Some I don't recall every seeing before...
...whereas others, such as this Birds of Paradise, I remember from England - but in the florists shops rather than in gardens.
The shiver of fresher, cooler mornings, and the smell of damp cooler air are so much like the Autumns/Falls I remember in other countries, but the abundant rainbow of flowers (rather than leaves) is something I think I have to associate with Australia.
* I may stand corrected with the names of the flowers, after much research I am still not totally confident I have the correct one. Sorry about this, and hope you enjoy the pictures anyway!
