The Australians get up early. Very early. But arriving at Freshwater at 7am on Sunday (where it is usually moderately busy at that time), it was jam-packed! The Surf Iron Man Qualifying series was being held there - so not only was it busy in the car parking areas and streets behind the beach, the water was chocablock and after only a short surf T and his mate were asked to get out of the water as the event organizers were closing the whole beach!
We visited a new beach, Avalon Beach. A few miles down from Palm Beach on the Northern Beaches, it was one we have been meaning to stop off at for a while, but always been on autopilot to get to Palm Beach. We also had a walk around the small, bustling town of Avalon. A really lovely place. It's amazing what you find when you decide to take a detour!
That was also the last of the sun until Thursday morning. I know it is the rainy season, but it has been a wetter than normal January, even by Sydney standards.
It was pretty miserable, but one family member was particularly unimpressed at the sight of yet more rain
Playing indoors it was then.
