Winter arrived this week. The 1st June was officially the start to winter, and with temperatures just scraping mid-teens on Monday, there was no doubt as to the season! On the chilly walk to work my head was saying not to be so silly - nine/ten degrees was not at all that cold; my body on the other hand, was confirming it has acclimatized to the Sydney climate. Monday night was the coldest night Sydney had seen for 5 years: a positively freezing... 7 degrees (yes, that was plus 7 degrees...)
Just like when we were in Spain, with no central heating in the apartment, it tends to be warmer outside than in, especially in the sunshine which is still lovely and warm. The race is on to get the warmest seat...
I wore four layers on Sunday morning when T was surfing. I wondered why I had even bothered leaving my nice warm bed behind as I briskly walked, trying to shake off the shivering...that was until I walked along the boardwalk south of Curl Curl without meeting a soul. That, together with the sun casting a beautiful light upon the waves crashing below made all that shivering worth it!
We caught the ferry into the city to see VIVID Sydney, an annual event "of light, music, and ideas..." we saw lots of beautiful light...but I think the ideas part missed us...
Talking of ideas... Twinings Tea, a very English institution, but with an Australian 'blend'. And to prevent any confusion, kangaroos on the packet!
