Settling down in front of the roaring fire, mesmerized by the flames, glass of locally produced red wine in hand and some cheese and crackers to nibble on, it was a lovely evening.

We have well and truly acclimatized. Whilst part of me knows that around 5 degrees at night is not freezing - in the slightest - and that not too long ago 12 degrees felt so springlike, those temperatures now feel bitterly cold. (The fact we don't have any central heating doesn't help...) Certain members of the household don't seem to have a problem staying warm:
Mount Ruang in Bali has been continuing to ground flights to and from Bali due to its volcanic ash cloud- this brings back many memories with the Icelandic volcano doing exactly the same in Europe five years ago.
