Here's hoping to a slightly cooler Friday than last week, when the mercury reached over 40 degrees.
Feeling the heat and the warm breeze which was far from refreshing bought back memories of Seville. As did the washing drying in a couple of hours, and having a slight crisp texture to it. The boys were too hot to do their usual curling up together, but they found a way to be close to each other:
A splash in the sea at Balmoral has helped to keep us cool. Yesterday I was looking for shells, and once in the shallows exclaimed with great excitement I had seen I beauty! I picked it up, only to discover to my horror it was still occupied! I dropped it back into the water before I had time to find out what was inside, and made a swift getaway...
The best of the spring colours may now be over, but there are still natural bright surprises, such as these very pretty berries:
We picked our first strawberry on Wednesday! This is always cause for excitement, as we don't have the greenest of fingers and once had a strawberry plant which didn't grow all summer. It didn't die, but the three leaves didn't grow beyond 2cm - so to actually get fruit, well, that is progress!
