I stumbled on yet another piano the other day - although this one was slightly larger...
And the raccoons were also a little bigger than those which had been playing on our roof:
It was the last week of the Mosaicultures Internationales Montreal 2013, held at the Montreal Botanical Gardens. The competition apparently takes place every three years in a different city, and all sculptures are made to a different theme each year.
This year's theme was Land of Hope;'"The importance of protecting the biodiversity of our planet"

The spectacular event has been running over the summer and when Mum and her friend visited in June, they caught the very beginning of it as the finishing touches were applied to the 200 plus mosaic sculptures, made by countries all over the world
We picked the coldest day in the week to go and view them - which is always the way - but I think the cold kept the crowds to a reasonable size. There were still hundreds of people as we meandered along the 2.2km circuit though.
Apparently Mosaiculture is the use of plants in a living way, meaning the plants keep growing and change along with their environment. This can be seen by a photo taken by Mum in June, and a photo I took last week:
We had been planning on having a cup of tea to warm our hands after viewing the creations, but the restaurant was full - clearly others had had the same idea - so we had to shove our hands in our pockets and hope the wait between buses wasn't too long.
I vowed to find my gloves when we got home, as judging by the temperature, the time had clearly come for such winter wares to come out of hiding...
