I'm back! Apologies for the lack of posts the past few weeks - the combination of starting a new job and preparing for, and then having visitors to stay meant it turned into a busy couple of weeks. We had a great storm last week, so great it was even dubbed, 'the storm of the century'. For almost three days we had cyclone-strength winds together with torrential rain. A few days later, we had enormous hail stones, measuring 1-2cm in certain parts of the city. Not exactly the ideal weather for our holiday-makers...
We are far behind Canada and the UK in the clock-changing stakes, but this weekend the clocks go back an hour. At least that means for a couple of weeks the Sunday morning surf will not begin in the dark as it did last Sunday. But the sunrise was beautiful.
Having suddenly dawned on us that I may be working most Saturdays in the future, we hastily embarked on a road trip on a wet weekend. It was also a bit of a recky; investigating for when we have visitors (which is not long now!) We had stayed near a charming town in the Blue Mountains when we first visited Australia, eight years ago. After a little bit of searching online we found the town: Leura. Nicknamed the "garden village" as it is home to many great gardens, some of which are open to the public, it lies just over 100km west of Sydney. Being a cooler day in Sydney, logic told us it may be even fresher in the Blue Mountains, so I put on trousers for the first time in many months. T didn't believe it would be quite that cold, and wore shorts, chucking some trousers into the car at the last minute. Good job he did, as when we arrived it was a 'cold' ten degrees! I think it is safe to say we have clearly acclimatized to the Australian climate!
