We carried on as planned, and went to the beach for a surf (for T - I walked). The beach was pretty quiet. But it was 7.30am, on a grey, cold (relatively speaking!) Christmas Day morning.
A belated Happy Christmas! There I was, with all these plans of things to do, and to write about; and then the day suddenly arrived... We woke up to grey skies. It looked miserable. Sitting on the balcony with a cup of tea, we were silent: so much for a hot and sunny Christmas, Australia. We carried on as planned, and went to the beach for a surf (for T - I walked). The beach was pretty quiet. But it was 7.30am, on a grey, cold (relatively speaking!) Christmas Day morning. As I walked, and T surfed, the sun began to burn the clouds away.
These incredibly moorish spiced moist biscuits are a taste of Christmas for us ever since our time in Munich.
He tried the door, no luck. And again, it wouldn't budge. Then he used brute force, and the door opened. We all piled in; us relieved we weren't shut out of the apartment; Albie pleased to be back inside a familiar environment - and one which held his cat biscuits... As we drove along the windy scenic roads when we visited the Hunter Valley a couple of months ago, we decided we should definitely return; and bring our bikes too. So we did just that this weekend. We stayed in the same hotel as last time, Spicers Vineyards Estate, as we had really enjoyed our last stay - and knew it had a delicious restaurant on site, which we felt we would need after an afternoon of cycling (and maybe some wine tasting too...)
Since we have been living in Australia we seem to be on a beetroot-fest, and have got through jars of pickled beetroot chopped up in salads, home grown (!) sliced thinly in salads, roasted... Yes we really do seem addicted.
This is by far our favourite recipe.
After many Saturdays of walking, heading to the beach, oh and unpacking; we decided to have a change and head downtown to the skyscrapers of Sydney.
